The concept of the church reaching out to the less fortunate can be found in the sixth chapter of Acts.  A situation arose in which the disciples were accused of neglecting the widows in need, and instead of leaving the spiritual work, they advised the brethren as follows:

Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.  (Acts 6:3)

This was an initial effort toward humanitarian aid in the early church, and it is in the same spirit that the Apostolic Christian Church continues to help those in difficult situations.

World Relief assists people of many diverse countries and cultures.  The World Relief Committee works in cooperation with the Mission Committee to meet humanitarian and spiritual needs around the world.  Many have made experiences that have altered their priorities in life and brought new appreciation for the teachings of Christ.  The work is substantial, the needs are unlimited.

But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?  My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.  (I John 3:17-18)
